Mivan, the luxury fit out and bespoke joinery specialist, won the first ever edition of the Rathbane Cup. A charity football tournament between teams from Mivan, MJM Marine and Topglass held last week in Antrim Forum.
Six teams competed - three teams from Mivan, Factory, Office, and Site, two teams from MJM Marine and one team from Topglass were drawn into two groups of three. The two group winners battled it out in the final, and all teams played a final match against the other group opponent.
Mivan Factory Team won overall by firstly smashing the Topglass team and then sinking the MJM Marine team before defeating the Mivan Site team in a close final ending 3-1. All the matches were played in a competitive but fun spirit with all teams cheering the winners off the pitch at the end.
Although much fun, laughter and smiles took place it was a reminder from Shorlagh McConville, Chairperson of HWSC, who organised the event, about the need to raise much needed funds for the charity of the year. Shorlagh said, “What a great tournament and so pleasing that so many individuals took part, but the important thing is to raise as much money as possible for Northern Ireland Chest Heart and Stroke. Thanks to our sponsors and I urge you to make a donation to celebrate the win.”
Thanks must go to event sponsors JP Corry, Tennant’s Building Products, Carey Glass and Greaney Glass Products and all others who have donated.
It is never too late to donate so please donate today to celebrate the victory. Click here.
Matthew Sellar, winning captain from Mivan Factory team, added, “We were determined to win but also give a good account of ourselves. I think we did that. It was great to see some familiar faces from MJM Marine and Topglass but also meet some new faces. All the matches were competitive, but we are delighted to come out on top. Now we just need some donations.”
